There Is Magic In Your Mind

The other day I was driving myself to see my chiropractic doctor. It was early in the morning – just because I prefer early morning appointments and getting into my doctor’s office before their schedule gets too “off track” – and traffic on the roads was still very light. My mind began doing what it normally does – it switched into ‘mental activity & productivity’ mode. It began scrolling through a mental list of all the other things I ‘needed’ to accomplish that day. Like the rolling credits at the end of a movie, they just kept scrolling and scrolling across the screen in my mind. Can you relate?

Then suddenly I became aware of something. I was in control of that ‘switch’ in my brain. The realization that I was fully at choice with this (just like everything else in my life) was staring back at me in the rearview mirror and wasn’t about to back down. I realized I didn’t have to allow the ‘automatic pilot’ to get switched on if that wasn’t what I truly wanted. This was not a movie I needed to watch.

So I turned it off. Just like that. At that moment in time, I decided to put my brain to work on something else. To REALLY put it through its paces! Because truthfully, ‘automatic pilot’ can be useful – for things like brushing your teeth or driving your car — but what is really fascinating to me is this idea that we can consciously exercise and direct the parts of our brains that are woefully underutilized. As human beings, we have tremendous advanced mental capabilities that we barely know what to do with. One of those superpowers is the Imagination.

The $100 Check Game

So you may be wondering at this point – what did I decide to put my brain to work on? The answer can be summed up in one word and that word is Abundance. To help me shift my mindset around money (an area of my life that needs much expansion & full self-expression), I started playing a little game with myself called ‘$100 Check’. I carry around in my wallet a check written out to myself for $100. I’ve drawn fun little squiggles and hearts on the check to make it stand out every time I open my wallet – a very helpful visual reminder. Another reminder – or mental trigger – I’ve created for myself is to think of the ‘$100 Check’ every time I am driving my car.

The premise of the game is simple. Write yourself a check. Set up some visual cues and triggers to remind yourself to play the game every day. Then the fun begins! Your objective is to spend that $100 as many times as you can during the day. Put your incredible Imagination to work on exactly what you would spend that $100 on. It could be something tangible or an experience you’d like to have. Visualize in vivid detail what that is and picture it firmly in your mind. How does it feel to have your desire fulfilled? Then you simply rinse-and-repeat.

Creating a Mind Movie

That day driving to my chiropractor’s office, I first visualized purchasing a very nice bottle of pink champagne and drinking that champagne out of a beautiful vintage glass. As I drove past the outdoor recreation store, my eyes were caught by 2 bright blue Adirondack chairs. How many times had I driven by and ‘wished’ for those chairs? Countless times. Again, I spent my $100 Check and imagined where I would place my bright new chairs in my front yard, near the rain garden and with a perfect view of the water.

The story continued to unfold as I realized I now had a place to enjoy my pink champagne – and an extra chair that now begged for a companion. With the image of me and a close friend laughing and sipping champagne firmly planted in my mind, I decided I would need to buy another bottle! Because the air is starting to turn cooler at night here in Maryland, I decided that my friend and I would be more comfortable cozied up in front of a nice warm fire pit. Once again, the $100 Check was invested with me building in my mind this drama of my desires being fulfilled. I could see this movie so vividly. Not only could I see the movie, I was IN the movie … and my heart-felt the joy & abundance of it all.

The Secret Key

You’re starting to get the picture now too, right? This game can go on and on for as long as you like. Your Imagination’s potential is endless. So why is that important for us to really get? It’s likely you were told from a very young age that your imagination is just daydreams and fantasies, a waste of time that will get you nowhere in life. That’s an outright lie. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Locked up in our minds is the secret sauce. The magic. We’ve just never been taught how to harness that magic and use our capabilities to fulfill our greatest potential. Once you begin to study the way the mind really works and what it’s truly capable of, it’s like all these hidden doors start to appear and then fall open one after the other. You finally have possession of the master key and you begin to unlock your greatest potential, one day and one door at a time.

In their mind-expanding 6-week online program, Magic In Your Mind, Bob Proctor, Sandy Gallagher and Mary Morrissey coach their students on how to develop each of our six higher mental faculties – imagination, intuition, will, perception, memory, and reason. I first got exposed to Bob Proctor in the well-known Law of Attraction film ‘The Secret’, but I absolutely fell in love with this man and what he teaches when I participated in a 3-day livestream event — the Paradigm Shift.

“Expect an abundance. The stream of plenty always flows towards the open, expectant mind.” – Bob Proctor

As more and more days go by where I am consistently playing the ‘$100 Check’ game, I can almost feel the new pathways being wired-up in my brain, cementing for me a new money mindset and a natural expectancy for abundance in all areas of my life. Invest in yourself by learning how to tap into the magic in your mind and the abundance you seek in your dreams will soon be yours in reality.
